Almost everyone makes the first mistake, and it costs a taxi and half an hour of panic: turning up at Molo Beverello with a ferry ticket, or at Calata Porta di Massa with a hydrofoil one. The two quays are a few hundred metres apart, but they are two different ports with two different fleets. The hydrofoils and fast craft leave from the Beverello: thirty or forty minutes, passengers only, no vehicles. The ferries leave from Porta di Massa: fifty-five or sixty minutes, and this is where vehicles are loaded.
The second mistake costs more and nobody sees it: buying the ticket on a resale portal instead of on the operator’s own website. The difference is not a few cents. Below you will find the official Caremar fares read on 09/09/2026, the ones you see on the aggregators, and an explanation of the gap.
The official Naples-Procida distance is 12 nautical miles. Caremar gives one hour by ferry and forty minutes by hydrofoil. Across the whole route there are about twenty connections a day, so in high season you do not need to wedge yourself into a precise time: you need to know which quay you are leaving from.
Beverello or Porta di Massa: the choice that comes before everything
Molo Beverello. Hydrofoils and fast craft, Caremar and SNAV. A crossing of 30-40 minutes. Passengers only: no cars, motorbikes or scooters are loaded. It is the quay in front of the Maschio Angioino, the handiest one if you arrive from the centre or from the cruise terminal.
Calata Porta di Massa. Caremar ships and ferries. A crossing of 55-60 minutes. This is where vehicles are loaded. It is also the more sensible quay if you are travelling with heavy luggage, a pushchair or someone who suffers at sea: the ferry is big, stable and has an open deck to sit on.
The practical rule: if you are not bringing a vehicle, the hydrofoil saves you half an hour and costs 4.70 EUR more. In a rough sea, though, the hydrofoil is the first thing to be cancelled and the most unpleasant to be on. If the weather is uncertain, the ferry is the choice that gets you there.
One warning that matters more than all the others: from late March to mid-October non-residents cannot land vehicles on Procida. A car ticket is of no use to you in that period, and neither is Porta di Massa. The details, the exact dates and the fines are in the practical information.
The official Caremar fares
These are the fares published by the Caremar sales site, read on 09/09/2026. They are the operator’s own prices, with no intermediary. Ferry fares change every season: check them again on the official website before you travel.

For two wheels on the Naples-Procida route: 19.50 EUR for motorbikes up to 250cc, 22.00 EUR above 250cc. The same high-season landing restrictions apply as for cars.
The figure that jumps out is Pozzuoli: 9.50 EUR against 12.70 EUR for the same island, with a shorter crossing. The six nautical miles from Pozzuoli take thirty-five minutes by ferry. Why you find higher prices than these online
This is the part no other guide explains to you, and it saves you money every time you travel.
If you search "Procida ferry" on a search engine, the first results are not the operators: they are aggregators and resellers. They sell a seat on the same vessel, on the same sailing, at a different price. One booking portal lists the ferry at 17.00 EUR and the hydrofoil at between 21.90 and 24.90 EUR; another talks about "from 19 EUR" for Caremar. The official Caremar fares, as you have just seen, are 12.70 and 17.40 EUR.
The gap has two causes, and it is worth keeping them apart.
- Booking fees and portal commission. The aggregator adds a margin and sometimes a fixed fee per passenger. On a 12.70 EUR ticket that weighs a great deal in percentage terms.
- Different operators have different fares. The "from 24 EUR" you see next to the SNAV name is not the same as the Caremar fare: SNAV runs hydrofoils only and costs more.
We will be honest about SNAV: we cannot give you a price. SNAV does not publish a publicly consultable fare list the way Caremar does. The SNAV figures circulating online are resale prices, not the company’s official fares, and we do not present them as such. If you want the SNAV price, open the SNAV website with your own dates.
The practical conclusion is simple. Buy on the website of the operator that carries you. Caremar for Naples, Pozzuoli and Ischia; SNAV if you are taking one of its hydrofoils from the Beverello or from Casamicciola. The aggregator has one real advantage: it lines up the timetables of several operators on a single screen. Use it to look, then buy where it costs less.
One honest exception: if you are travelling in a group, on a tight schedule, and you do not want to handle two different websites, the convenience of a single booking may be worth a few euros. But know that you are paying for it.
The Caremar timetables from Naples
These are the Caremar timetables on the Naples-Procida route read on 09/09/2026. They apply all year except for the sailings marked as seasonal. The timetables change at every change of season: use them to understand the shape of the day, not to book from memory.
Naples to Procida — 15 sailings. The first is at 06:00 by ferry, the last at 21:55 by ferry.
- Hydrofoils: 07:30, 08:40, 11:45, 13:10, 14:45, 17:45, 18:15. The 21:05 sailing is added, but only from 1 June to 30 September.
- Ferries: 06:00, 10:45, 15:10, 17:35, 19:25, 21:55.
Procida to Naples — 13 sailings. The first is at 06:35 by hydrofoil, the last at 20:15 by ferry. The 20:05 hydrofoil exists only from 15 June to 15 September.
SNAV adds about thirty-eight sailings a week on the Naples-Procida route, all by hydrofoil from the Beverello. Adding up the operators you get to about twenty connections a day.
Look carefully at the two seasonal sailings, because they decide the shape of your day. Out of season the last useful return to Naples is early, and anyone who has arranged dinner at Corricella ends up running. Which operators actually serve Procida
The picture is small and worth learning, because one name too many circulates online.
- Caremar — Naples (both the Beverello and Porta di Massa), Pozzuoli, Ischia. It is the only one that runs both ferries and hydrofoils, and the only one with a public, consultable fare list.
- SNAV — Naples Beverello and Casamicciola. Hydrofoils only.
- Medmar, Gestour, Ippocampo — from Pozzuoli, with ferries and motor vessels.
- Capitan Morgan and Laser Capri Linee Blu — links from Casamicciola.
Alilauro does not serve Procida. It often appears in generic lists of "ferries to the islands of the bay", but it has no links to this island. If you find it cited for Procida, that page is out of date.
Buying the ticket, in practice
Out of season there is no need to book ahead: you buy at the ticket office on the quay and get on. From June to September, at weekends and on public holidays, booking ahead is worth it: not so much for the risk of being left behind as to avoid missing the sailing you need while you stand in the queue.
If you are travelling by ferry, allow a good margin to be at the quay: foot boarding closes before departure and the Porta di Massa quay is a big one. With the hydrofoil the procedure is quicker, but seats on board are numbered and limited.
Keep the ticket until you disembark. On Procida you land at Marina Grande, which is the port and the centre of the town at the same time: everything starts from there, buses included. How to get about once ashore is in getting around Procida.
One last thing, unromantic but useful: in a heavy sea the sailings are cancelled, and it happens to the hydrofoils above all. If you have a flight on the day you travel back, do not take the last sailing available. Take the one before.
