Day trippers’ Procida
Thirty or forty minutes by hydrofoil from Naples, 12.70 EUR by ferry, and an island you cross on foot in forty minutes: the day trip really does work here.
Monuments & sites

Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo
The church at the top of Terra Murata: monastic presence documented from 1026, sixteenth-century architecture, free entry and a guided explanation offered by the volunteers.

Casale Vascello
A seventeenth-century fortified courtyard settlement, the first nucleus to grow up outside the walls of Terra Murata: houses built up against each other around a large court, still lived in.

Palazzo d’Avalos
The sixteenth-century d’Avalos palace turned into a prison by the Bourbons and closed in 1988: today you visit it only with a guide, by booking, at the top of Terra Murata.

Santa Margherita Nuova
Sixteenth-century church and former Dominican convent on the ridge between Corricella and Terra Murata, today a venue for exhibitions, with terraces looking over the fishermen’s village.

Santa Maria della Pietà
The church you see first arriving by sea: built by the shipowners of the Pio Monte dei Marinai in 1616, with the baroque bell tower and the four-faced clock.
Museums

Chiaiolella Beach
Direct road access, the L2 bus from the harbour, beach clubs and restaurants two steps away. The beach to choose when you do not want complications.

Silurenza Beach
Just west of the harbour, on Via Roma: the beach that solves the wait for the hydrofoil and the first half day on the island.
Neighbourhoods

Marina Grande
Procida’s harbour front: ferries, Via Roma, the church of Santa Maria della Pietà, the bus terminus and two small beaches a few minutes from the quay.

Terra Murata
The island’s fortified acropolis, at about 91 metres: the abbey of San Michele, the former prison of Palazzo d’Avalos, two historic gates and the view over the Corricella.

Dishes

Lingua di Procida
Hand-rolled puff pastry in a long tongue shape, filled with lemon cream and dusted with sugar nibs. The Procidans’ breakfast, all year round.

Limone di Procida (limone pane)
The island cultivar: thick skin, barely acidic flesh and a sweet white pith you eat instead of throwing away. All the local lemon cooking comes down from it.

Vino Starza
The first wine with a denomination made from Procida grapes, presented in 2022: a white, falanghina and levante, bottled under the DOC Campi Flegrei.
