Procida has no airport and no bridge. You get here by ferry or by hydrofoil, and there are four gateways: Naples, Pozzuoli, Ischia Porto and Casamicciola. The choice is not only a geographical one. It changes the price of the ticket, it changes how long the crossing takes, and if you come by car it changes above all what it costs you to leave that car standing on the mainland for the whole holiday.
The short answer, for anyone arriving from outside the region: if you have a car, go for Pozzuoli. Shortest route, cheapest ticket, car parks that cost about half the Naples ones. If you arrive by train or by plane, Naples is the natural option. If you are already on Ischia, the crossing is a handful of minutes.
All the fares below are the official Caremar ones, read on 09/09/2026. The ferries change timetables and prices every season: use these to compare, then check on the operator’s website before you travel.
From Naples: convenient, not cheap
Naples has two different ports for the islands and they are not interchangeable. The hydrofoils leave from Molo Beverello: 30-40 minutes, passengers only, no vehicles on board. The ferries leave from Calata Porta di Massa: 55-60 minutes, with vehicle loading. The two quays are a few hundred metres apart, but getting it wrong means missing your sailing.
The official distance is 12 nautical miles. Caremar gives one hour by ferry and forty minutes by hydrofoil. The official fares are 12.70 EUR by ferry and 17.40 EUR by hydrofoil per passenger.
Caremar runs 15 sailings a day to Procida, from 06:00 to 21:55, and 13 back, from 06:35 to 20:15. SNAV adds about 38 hydrofoil sailings a week from the Beverello. Watch out for the two evening sailings — the 21:05 hydrofoil out and the 20:05 back — because they only exist in summer.
Naples makes sense if you arrive by train: from Napoli Centrale you get down to the Beverello on the Alibus or on metro line 1 as far as Municipio, and it is a matter of minutes. It also makes sense if you land at Capodichino, which is the closest airport to the island. It does not make sense if you have a car to park for a week: the figures are further down.

From Pozzuoli: the shortest route and the cheapest
Pozzuoli is 6 nautical miles from Procida, exactly half the distance from Naples. Caremar gives 35 minutes for the crossing by ferry. The passenger fare is 9.50 EUR by ferry and 10.70 EUR by hydrofoil: three euros less than Naples on the ferry, almost seven less on the hydrofoil.
Four operators work this route: Caremar, Medmar, Gestour and Ippocampo. Between them the route has about twenty departures a day, from around 05:45 to 20:00, with prices between 9.00 and 15.90 EUR and crossings of between 20 and 45 minutes depending on the vessel. The hydrofoil comes down to twenty minutes. Medmar starts from about 10 EUR.
Caremar from Pozzuoli: 04:10 on weekdays, 08:50 by hydrofoil, then 09:05, 10:15, 14:00 and 19:00. Return sailings: 03:10 on weekdays, 08:00, 08:10 by hydrofoil, 09:00, 12:00 and 18:10.
Gestour runs four sailings a day in each direction and has one quirk worth knowing: it does not operate on Wednesdays. Departures towards Procida at 07:00, 09:25, 13:00 and 15:30; returns at 08:00, 11:30, 14:05 and 17:05.
An inconsistency we should flag. Gestour gives about 40 minutes in its timetable, but "about an hour" in the descriptive text on the same website. The two pieces of information do not agree. If you have a tight connection on the way back, work on the longer figure.
Pozzuoli is reached by car from the Naples ring road, and it is easy by train too: the Cumana and Line 2 come into the town, and the port is a walk away. For anyone coming off the A1 motorway or down from the Caserta side, Pozzuoli avoids central Naples traffic altogether. That is an advantage that never shows up in the price comparisons, but it is worth an hour of your day.
From Ischia and from Casamicciola
Ischia is the island next door: 3 nautical miles from Procida. From Ischia Porto, Caremar gives 30 minutes by ferry and 20 by hydrofoil, with about 18 sailings a day, the first at 05:00 on non-holidays and the last at 23:00. The passenger fare is 9.40 EUR.
From Casamicciola the crossing takes between 15 and 30 minutes and starts from about 10 EUR. The operators here are Caremar with 14 sailings a week, SNAV with 31, Capitan Morgan with 12 and Laser Capri Linee Blu with 2. SNAV states a crossing of 10-20 minutes: that is the company’s figure, not ours.
These connections make possible the most sensible thing you can do in this part of the bay: sleep on Procida and spend a day on Ischia, not the other way round. Ischia has 35,000-40,000 beds and absorbs the visitor; Procida has far fewer and gives you the island back in the evening, once the day trippers have gone. In summer the sailings between the islands increase; out of season they thin out and the last departures move earlier. The same rule always applies: the last sailing is not a plan, it is a risk.
Where you leave the car: the sum nobody does
This is the item of spending the guides forget, and over a week it weighs more than the ferry ticket. From late March to mid-October vehicles belonging to non-residents cannot land on Procida, so if you come by car you leave it on the mainland for the whole holiday. Where you leave it changes everything.

Over seven days the difference is stark: 50-70 EUR at Pozzuoli against 120-160 EUR at the Beverello. That is 70-90 EUR of holiday, which is two dinners for two at Corricella. Add the cheaper ticket and the shorter crossing, and the choice makes itself.
Garage Brin in Naples is the interesting exception: about 15 EUR a day, in line with Pozzuoli. It is not next to the quays, though, and you have to allow for the transfer.
Car park rates change without notice and in high season the spaces fill up. If you arrive on a Saturday morning in August, do not count on the first car park you find open.
By train, by plane, by bus
By train. Napoli Centrale is the hub: from there to Molo Beverello on the Alibus or on metro line 1 as far as Municipio. For Pozzuoli you take the Cumana from Montesanto or Line 2 from Napoli Centrale, and the port is a walk from the station.
By plane. The airport to use is Naples Capodichino. From there the Alibus reaches the port of Naples. Anyone landing on the last flight of the evening should check the time of the last sailing: out of season the evening departures for Procida disappear.
By car. If you choose Pozzuoli, come off the Naples ring road at the exits for the port. If you choose Naples, remember that the port area is busy and the access lanes to the quays clog up at peak times: a thirty-minute margin is not excessive caution.
Once you have landed, the car is of no further use to you. The island is 3.7 km² and you can cross it on foot in about forty minutes; the rest is done by the EAV buses and the micro-taxis. The details are in getting around Procida.
