How many days do you need?
One is enough for the essentials: you cross the island on foot in about forty minutes, and a single day holds Terra Murata, Corricella and one beach. Two days add the sea proper, Vivara and a dinner without watching the ferry clock. Three nights are for living it, not visiting it.

May, June and September. September is the best if you also want the sea: the water stays warm and the day trippers thin out after the first week. From October to May the buses finish around 21:00 and the evening ferry sailings disappear: still fine, but know what you are giving up.

How do you get to Procida?
Only by sea. From Naples the hydrofoil leaves the Molo Beverello and takes 30-40 minutes, the ferry leaves the Calata Porta di Massa and takes 55-60 minutes; from Pozzuoli it is 35 minutes by ferry, from Ischia Porto 20-30 minutes. The two Naples quays are not interchangeable: read the ferry guide or the comparison of the four ways in on getting to Procida.
How much does the ferry to Procida cost?
The official Caremar fare from Naples is 12.70 EUR per passenger on the ferry and 17.40 EUR on the hydrofoil, read on 09/09/2026. From Pozzuoli it drops to 9.50 EUR, from Ischia to 9.40 EUR. Resale portals quote higher figures for the same sailings because they add booking fees: buy on the operator’s own site.
Is one day enough to see Procida?
Yes, and it is the only one of the three islands in the bay you can say that about. The island measures 3.7 km² and you cross it on foot in about forty minutes: a single day holds Terra Murata, Corricella and one beach. With two days you add the sea and a booked visit: see Procida in 1 day.
Can you take a car to Procida?
No, not unless you are a resident and not in the peak period: from 30 March to 15 October 2026 the regional decree forbids non-residents from landing or driving cars, motorcycles and mopeds. The fine runs from 430 to 1,731 EUR. The measure is reissued every year and has to be rechecked in March: details and exemptions in the practical information.
Do you need a car on the island?
No. You walk almost everywhere, and for the rest there are the EAV buses from Marina Grande at 1.20 EUR for a ticket bought on the ground, 1.40 EUR on board. The C2 climbs to Terra Murata and Corricella, the L1 is the spine down to Chiaiolella. How the lines, the micro-taxis and the hire firms work is in getting around Procida.
Procida, Ischia or Capri: which is better?
It depends how many nights you have. In the summer of 2026 Capri took about 1,050,000 landings and Ischia over 860,000, against the 236,000 of Procida: Procida is the smallest, the cheapest and the only one of the three that is not organised around mass tourism. For three nights or more, with thermal baths and big beaches, Ischia makes more sense: the full comparison.
When is the best time to go to Procida?
May, June and September. September is the first one we recommend if you also want the sea, because the water stays warm and the day trippers thin out after the first week; May and June work for the villages, the walking and lower prices. Out of season the buses finish around 21:00: see when to go.
Which beach should you choose on Procida?
The Chiaia if you accept about a hundred and eighty steps: dark sand, shallow water, the most sheltered bay. The Chiaiolella if you want to arrive by bus and find beach clubs and restaurants. The Pozzo Vecchio is the Postino one, small and with no facilities. All six compared in best beaches.
