The photographs of places published on this site come from Wikimedia Commons and can be reused commercially as well. Below you will find, for each image, the author, the licence and the link to the original file page.

Many of these photos are released under a CC BY-SA licence: anyone can reuse them, provided they credit the author and distribute any modifications under the same licence. The images have been resized and converted to WebP for the web; nothing else has been done to the content of the photographs.

Three photographs do not show Procida

For three entries there is no free photograph on Commons taken on the island. In their place we use an image of an equivalent subject, and we say so here and in the alt text of each image: the artichokes are romaneschi, that is the same variety grown on Procida but photographed in Rome; the spaghetti with sea urchins were photographed in a Sicilian place in Malta; the vineyard is Campanian but not Procidan. The underwater photo on the private tour card shows a posidonia meadow in the Mediterranean, photographed in France: it is not a seabed on Procida. The photographs in the Day trips block show Naples and Ischia, that is the starting point or the destination of those trips, not Procida.

Photos granted by the venues

Some photographs of restaurants, bars and hotels were supplied to us by the venues themselves, which authorised their use on this site. They remain their property: anyone wanting to reuse them has to ask them, not us.

Two images are illustrations, not photographs

The two cards for the self-guided walks — Terra Murata–Corricella and Chiaiolella–Vivara — open with an illustration drawn from the real view, not with a photograph. We commissioned them because for those two routes there is no free photograph that frames the whole itinerary. They are faithful to the view, but they remain drawings: to see what it really looks like, look at the photographs on the cards for the individual places.

Twenty images are made, not taken

A number of service pages — how to get here, the ferries, getting around, practical information, the itineraries, the months, where to sleep, the beach and restaurant guides and the three cards about the lemon — open with images we produced ourselves, rather than with photographs taken on Procida. They are details and still lifes: a rope on a ferry deck, an umbrella planted in dark sand, a laid table. They show what the page is about, not a specific place, plate or business on the island: where a page needed a photograph of a real place, it has one. We introduced them because dozens of different pages used to share the same picture.

One beach with no photograph

There is no free photograph of the Lingua beach. Rather than pass off another beach on the island as the Lingua, that page shows the Marina Grande front you reach it from.
